Projects

This page highlights some of the projects I worked on in ecology, sustainability, and environmental data science.

Namibia StoryMap User Guide

For my sustainability capstone project, I worked on a StoryMap user guide for an interactive biodiversity platform in Namibia. This project was developed in collaboration with the Colorado Natural Heritage Program (CNHP) and the University of Namibia.

My role focused on explaining how users can navigate the interactive map, use tools such as measuring distance and area, turn layers on and off, and understand biodiversity indicators.

Carbon Emissions and Energy Use During COVID-19

In this project, I analyzed changes in greenhouse gas emissions in the top five emitting countries (China, United States, India, Russia, and Japan) from 2015 to 2022.

I used statistical methods such as ANOVA and regression, along with machine learning models like random forest. The results showed that emissions dropped during COVID-19 but rebounded afterward, and gas emissions were a strong predictor.

Wolverine Habitat Suitability Analysis

This project focused on identifying suitable habitats for wolverines in Clear Creek County, Colorado using GIS analysis. I used elevation, snowpack, and distance from roads to model habitat suitability.

The results showed that suitable habitats are mostly located in high-elevation areas with low human disturbance.
